Most of what's below is arranged through the
Meet-the-People Session (MPS) — every Tuesday, 8pm onwards, at Blk 92 Jalan Satu, #01-11. No appointment needed; just walk in with your NRIC. See
Meet Your MP for full details.
MPS Legal Clinics Free legal advice alongside your Meet-the-People Session
⚖️ Community Legal Clinic (CLC)
Once a month, in conjunction with the MPS, a Pro Bono SG volunteer lawyer holds free 20-minute consultations for residents with personal legal matters (business and commercial matters are not covered). Ask Ms. Gho's team at the MPS for the next available date, or register in advance with Pro Bono SG directly.
Bring: your NRIC and any documents related to your matter (letters, agreements, notices).
Note: Sessions are strictly confidential and open only to residents who have not already engaged a lawyer for the same matter.
📞 Pro Bono SG: 6536 0650
Need legal help outside the MPS schedule? See the full list of pro bono legal clinics — including Wisma Geylang Serai and Joo Chiat CC — on the Legal Support page.
Job Mobility Support through redundancy, career change or upskilling
If you're between jobs, facing retrenchment, or considering a career switch, raise it at the MPS. Ms. Gho's team can help you understand what you may be eligible for and refer you to the right agency for one-on-one career coaching.
Full listings, including senior employment and business support, are on the Jobs Assistance page.
Neighbourhood Disputes & Mediation Resolving friction between neighbours, amicably
For minor disagreements — noise, corridor clutter, shared space use — grassroots leaders at the MPS can often help facilitate an informal conversation between neighbours first. For disputes that need a more structured process, Ms. Gho's office can refer you to the Community Mediation Centre (CMC), a free, voluntary mediation service under the Ministry of Law that resolves the large majority of the disputes it mediates.
Community Fridge Sharing surplus food within Mountbatten
Community fridges let neighbours share surplus, still-good food on a "take what you need, give what you can" basis. One recent example is the FoodShare Community Fridge @ Block 88A, Dakota One (Jalan Satu) launched by the PAP Mountbatten team.
Child Library & Reading Corners Bringing books closer to young readers
Marine Parade Public Library — the National Library Board branch serving Mountbatten, Katong, Joo Chiat and Siglap — is reopening within the new Marine Parade Community Building. In the interim, NLB has previously donated pre-loved books to set up children's reading corners at Residents' Committees, such as the one at Marine Terrace Walk. If your Resident Network would like to explore a similar reading corner, or wants help accessing the 24-hour Book Dispenser and Libby e-book app in the meantime, Ms. Gho's office can help make the connection — raise it at the MPS.
